Evaluation Testing
will be provided during one of the early training sessions. These
tests would include obtaining baseline measures for acceleration,
speed, and agility. Players will be provided with their own
individual test score results sheets to keep for their own records. |
A special focus will be on
drills to improve 1st step explosiveness and acceleration. These components
are much more crucial for athletes, since most runs/sprints during a game
average 5-15 yards in length or slightly longer, whereas actual top speed
takes 30-40 yards to reach. Individuals would be taught drills for
developing proper acceleration technique (correct posture, arm action & leg
action). This program will also facilitate the development of 4 speed
components as they relate to the needs of the athlete.
| |
Decision-Making Speed-making decisions

| |
Reaction Speed-ability to react to some action by
teammate or opponent. |
| |

elements of the game. |
| |
Anticipation Speed-predict what will happen before it
happens. |
